HomeTuesday 28 July 2009 Quarry Lake Prop-Wash Gravel-Pilenatsvela on Tuesday 28 July 2009 - 10:31:33 | Read/Post Comment: 0 Hi Quarry Lake and SPLWSA Members --Just a short note to let you know that the water level in Quarry Lake continues to drop ... that means that the prop-wash gravel-pile to the north of the boat launch is getting nearer the surface. A boat pulling tournament skiers this weekend hit the pile while launching ... So please: 1. BE CAREFUL LAUNCHING AND LANDING YOUR BOAT. Make sure to glide over the pile with your boat in neutral. 2. Please do not power your boat onto your trailer. That will only add to the problem. Just back your trailer in a bit further and use your winch. 3. We could really use some help keeping that prop-wash gravel-pile down. The ski groups who volunteered to do this role is not able to keep up with the declining water level ... if you have not yet worked your full five hours, and would like to help with this task, please do so and let me know. Best way to do this is bring a few shovels and, along with your ski party, have-at-it after your ski session. Just push the gravel in the pile off the edge to the north ... As a result, we have made a few changes in an attempt to make the Orange Gate easier to lock correctly, and more difficult to lock incorrectly. These changes include: 1. Moved the City of Shakopee's keyed lock to the end of the chain. 2. Removed excess links on the other end of the chain. The chain is now only long enough to comfortably wrap through both arms of the Orange Gate to a locking position. 3. Added a U-clamp bolt to the mid-point of the chain, and fastened it in a location that allows both ends of the chain to be comfortably wrapped through both gate arms to the locking position. Please see attached photo that shows the two locks inter-locked in a series with the newly shortened chain set-up. Our combination lock is locked shackle-to-shackle with the City's keyed lock, such that opening either lock will allow entry.
