Dock/Lift Fundraiser

Hi Quarry Lake and SPLWSA Members

The SPLWSA as a whole is in danger of not meeting our budget this year if we do not take some action ... our Show related revenue is down, both due to the immediate economy and to long term trends, and, in addition, we have had some unanticipated but necessary expenses related to our boats in 2009. These two combine to require us to find additional ways to raise funds necessary to fund the annual operations of our Club.

Trevor Pope has for several years had the idea of raising funds for the Club by removing/installing boat lifts and docks for people in the Prior Lake/Shakopee area. This would require three to four volunteer crews of about 5 or 6 SPLWSA Members each, who would agree to volunteer to work on a weekend or two in the fall and spring ... removing docks and boat lifts in the fall, and installing docks/boat lifts in the spring.

Trevor has provided this service in the past ... he reports that the average payment is about $200 per job per season. If we were to get 25 installs or removals, that could lead to $5000 in revenue for our Club. 50 jobs would lead to $10,000 in revenue for the Club. Pretty good return for a couple weekends of work from a few crews of members.

The purpose of this note is to determine whether you would be willing to participate with Trevor on such a work crew. Please consider volunteering. If you are willing, please let me know by replying to this e-mail. You may also contact Trevor directly at [email]

If we find we have enough interest to fill out a Work Crew, you may hear from me again in order to spread the word to friends and neighbors that we are offering this service.

Thank you,

-- John Davis
